New pictures, new shows
Check the shows page for information regarding two shows we have scheduled for October: one at the Knitting Factory once again, the other is a punk show in a backyard one street away from our house!
There are also some new pictures on our myspace from the Knitting Factory 9.13.07 and the Limelight 5.26.07

to rock and blog in LA
We just booked our first show in Los Angeles. Shout out to Becca Balin for the show! Anyone from LA area reading this should mark this date in their diary...Thursday September 13 @ Knitting Factory. Shows page has more details.
Bored? Cruise over to our myspace page and read the blogs, we've been posting more these days.
Still bored? If you've never looked at our old shows page....you don't really know us. Check it out.

WE ARE DEAD
...just look at the new photos on the BAND SECTION. We've got some new pictures in other parts of the site too so check them out.
Fourth of July injuries were relatively mild this year. Brian burnt his thumb lighting fireworks for neighborhood kids and Jay got thrashed by a big wave in the ocean resulting in what looks like road-rash on his ass. Drunken night swimming: do it.

WE ARE ALIVE
...and well in the city of angels and also now have an internet connection! We've been settling in nicely, getting jobs, and collecting dirty disgarded mattresses off the streets of LA to screw onto the outter walls of the shed in our new backyard in order to soundproof it. This unsightly rock fortress will be the new Not The Government HQ from which we will prepare to take on California.

Not The Government Violence on YouTube
You can watch a clip of Weston's (of Full Blown Aids infamy) stage invasion from our last Limelight show. Jay gets creamed and drums go tumbling. ENJOY
And read about us in this week's issue of the SA Current. HERE

San Antonio, we love you but....
Yes, it's true: we're packing up and moving to Los Angeles at the end of this month. We've already zoomed in on our West LA house from space satellites courtesy of Google Earth. So, if you want to catch us live before we head into the desert come to Rock Bottom on Friday and/or Limelight on Saturday. And watch out for flying shoes (just kidding, Limelight).

New Recordings
We've added some new music to the Songs section. "Raise Your Right Hand And Vanish" is an older recording from before the Williams brothers were in the band and it will appear on our upcoming Mookie Dog Records EP. "In The Name Of Fear" is a brand new song, this recording was done on a 4-track the day we wrote it. "Video Game Music" could aptly be described as an outtake. Enjoy.

Shirts and stuff
So our show this past Saturday ended in violence and (unintentional) vandalism. For a second you could've mistaken it for a Full Blown AIDS show. Good times. Thanks, Weston. You FUCK.
If anyone out there wants a one-of-a-kind spray painted Not The Government t-shirt hand crafted by the one and only TONE, send us an email and let us know what size you want. $8 though, pay us! They look really cool, trust us.

Fundamentally Opposed Bill
I don't know if the fabric of the space time continuum will be ripped or what, but on April 26 NOT THE GOVERNMENT will be sharing the stage with THE GOVERNMENT. Whoa. Is your mind blown yet? Check the shows page for details.
Updated the old shows page with fun facts for the shows we've neglected to add fun facts too. Also, there are two new songs on the myspace account: "Brainwash The Tiger" and "Suicide Is Illegal." Those who've seen us lately might recognize them from our recent live sets. The Graces' last show was really a whole mess of fun, so, like, feel bad if you missed it.

JUST ANOTHER SUNDAY...
...Except all the people you want to bomb are in the same place (church). So, happy socially homogenized (and bizarrely not regarded as creepy) zombie Jesus day, and watch out for that giant bunny.

Two shows, one night
This Saturday April 7 we are playing twice: first around 9:20 at Scooby's opening up for the Graces. They are very awesome and it is their last show, so go to the show. Then, after we watch the Graces' set, we are heading to The Venue to close out Druggist's tour kick off show. Druggist is also very good and they need money for their tour, so go to the show. That is all.

MyFace.com/comeonitnow

We've held off for so long from having a myspace account because we've always wanted to encourage traffic to this very website you so graciously are reading right now. I mean, it looks cooler than myspace, has more of our songs, not to mention it doesn't have advertisements for ring tones and ipods...you could say it has our own personalized creative stamp. But we figured what better way to get people to the website than by getting all up on thas myspace shit too. So be our friend, even if you're really not....cause that's what it's all about, right? myspace.com/notthegovernment
Oh and Tyler was not in a severely crippling car crash. Happy April Fool's day 2007. Since we were practicing all day (getting a brand new song ready so we can unleash it at next Saturday's show) I forgot it was 4/1 so I slipped that horrifying lie on the myspace with like an hour left in the day. Oh well. Tyler can walk. Will anyone even fall for it? C'mon!

go to our fucking show
Yes, saturday. Which is tomorrow if you are reading this on the same day I wrote it. It's going to be FUN. Even if you don't care about live original rock music (ala Not The Government and Fear Snakeface) or live original hip-hop music (ala Notes)....they sell beer there. Trust me, I promise they do. So fucking go. Also my mom says I say "fucking" too much. Fuck.

Avalanche of shows
Check the shows page for a massive update of upcoming live shows, including one last minute show this Sunday (March 11) in Kirby of all places! For the Limelight shows (except Indie 80s) if you wear a Not The Government shirt (or make your own, DIY style) you'll get in FREE. We also will have a few Austin dates which will be posted as soon as they are confirmed.

What exactly constitutes a "slew"?
Who's ready for a slew of upcoming shows? Well,we are: On Sunday February 18 we'll be transmorphing into Joy Divison for the 3rd installment of Indie 80s at the Limelight. Sharing the stage with us that night will be two other legendary acts you may have heard of: The Smiths (Wilton & friends) and Run DMC (Mad Dash & Notes). Don't wanna miss that one, trust. On with the circus: the very next day we'll be playing at the Hole In The Wall in Austin. As Not The Government. Throw these on the calendar too: March 17 and April 28, both at Limelight. More information on those soon.

Are you sure it's not going to shock me again?
Thanks to all who stuck around til 1:35am to see us at our last show. And Tone - make more of those bootleg shirts cause you know everyone wants one. We are currently planning another round of San Antonio and Austin shows so keep checking right here for details.
Pick up a copy of the San Antonio Current this weekend because it's their first annual music issue and check the "S.A Indie Mix tape" feature for a little blurb about yours truly along with some of our fellow scene cohorts.

Regarding our next show
What's more important to you: not being "that guy" (who wears the shirt of the band you're going to see) or saving money? That choice is now yours because if you wear a Not The Government shirt to our next show (on Saturday January 27th @ Limelight) you will get in FUCKING FREE. Let your internal dilemma begin.....NOW!
Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, Notes will not be destroying the mic at the show, but rest assured he will be destroying the mic at our next show. Stay tuned for more on that.
One last thing...the show is 18+, which is kinda bogus because MUSIC IS FOR EVERYONE, but we'll go ahead and look on the bright side: at least it's not 21+. Alright fellow rockers, see you there.

2007
First update of the year...We survived another fireworks-related holiday with only the usual burnt fingers and annoyed neighbors we've grown accustomed to.
We've had so much fun playing in Austin the past two shows that we're bringing down some of our new friends Shoot For The Stars And Kill Them and Coma In Algiers to San Antonio play with us on Saturday January 27th at Limelight (2718 N. St. Mary's). Also, bringing some diverse flava to the bill will be the mic skills of Notes. All around it will be a great first San Antonio show of 2007.
